Our Story

Who was RF Wood

Robert F. Wood was a beloved family man and devoted member of the Hudson, MA community. He dedicated his life to the youth of the community, believing that all children should have access to organized sports and physical activity, regardless of financial circumstances. RF went out of his way to ensure that no child was left out of participating in youth sports, often providing the means necessary himself. As a long-time coach in the youth hockey system and a co-founder of the Hudson High School Athletic Boosters Club, RF was committed to ensuring that every youth’s athletic experience was fair, enjoyable, and unforgettable. Twenty-six years after his passing, his family continues his honorable legacy through the newly formed RF Wood Foundation.
Who was RF Wood?

The Foundation ensures no child is left out of participating in youth sports by covering individual league fees, camp tuition, clinic costs, and program expenses, while helping to foster positive youth development.

The RF Wood Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equal opportunities for children in the area of youth and high school sports and physical activity. Founded by the family of Robert F. Wood, a man who devoted his life to the community of Hudson, MA and believed that every child, regardless of financial means, should have access to organized sports, the Foundation seeks to continue his legacy.

The RF Wood Foundation provides funding to local youth organizations and schools to assist families with financial need as well as those who need funding to provide adequate opportunities for physical activity. In addition to financial support, the Foundation offers programs to guide youth in becoming positive role models and influential leaders in the community. The Foundation ensures no child is left out of participating in youth sports by covering individual league fees, camp tuition, clinic costs, and program expenses, while helping to foster positive youth development.
